Last year I did a concept shoot and brought the dresses in for cleaning afterwards. I entered Wedding Gown Care Specialist and knew I came to the right place. Karen works with nothing but wedding gowns. It allows her to be focused and specific and her customers receive fabulous quality and customer service. She works on high end gowns from all over the United States and recently, a bride flew back from London and brought her gown to be cleaned because she couldn’t find anyone in England that could properly clean and preserve her dress.
Karen keeps pictures of before and afters to prove what miracles she pulls off. Some of the dresses she is asked to clean are ones that have been preserved by others and then started to yellow after a few years, some are family heirloom gowns that have been in an attic for decades, some are high end gowns that need an expert touch, and some have been put through the wringer and are covered in filth (or red punch or anything else that gets on a white dress) =)
I just recently visited Karen again, this time to receive a present. Karen is the only wedding gown cleaner to carry a new tool that I am so excited to also now own. It is a wedding gown protector for when you want to do outside pictures on your wedding day but are worried about the dress getting dirty. Now, most dresses get dirty underneith simply by walking down the aisle in the church, but this protector will come in handy when going out into a field or on the beach or any other fairly dirty location for a shoot. It attaches underneith the petticoats and is longer than the dress, so you have a sheet of protection between the dress and the ground. It has a drawstring so you can pick everything up and walk without dragging the dress behind you. This tool is going to come in so handy when I do bridal portraits, I can’t wait to use it!
Make sure to visit Wedding Gown Care Specialist in New Hope! She has special packages for clients who come talk about preserving their dress before the wedding, and it would be a great time to pick up one of her dress protectors. Be sure to visit her site for a ton of tips on traveling with your wedding gown and preserving it correctly after your wedding.
