Jason and Jill were married today!

Generations of Jill’s family have attended the University of Minnesota, that is where she and Jason met and that is where they’ve created many fabulous friendships…so it only made sense that they would be married there as well! Even more family traditions were honored, with Jill wearing her mother’s wedding gown and the couple using the Chinese traditional wedding colors of red and gold.

As the thunder rumbled and the rain poured, we enjoyed the respite from the muggy Minnesota afternoon in the Commons Hotel for portraits. I like how the grey and white wall made the red just pop. And Sweet Pea’s Floral put fresia in the bouquets, so they smelled heavenly. Jill and Jason were so relaxed and go with the flow all day, everything was easy and fun.

There was even some time to play a little Pokemon Go during family portraits. I think they caught them all.

Friends and family gathered at Grace University Lutheran Church for the ceremony. I love this image of the kids as they were about to go down the aisle!

After the ceremony, Jill changed into a lovely red Qi Pao, Jason grabbed his UofM umbrella and we braved the rain for a few portraits around campus.

As we started to drive south, the rain subsided and we arrived at the Ames Center where the sun was shining and birds were out. AND the park outside the reception site was a pokemon go station. SCORE! The reception space looked lovely decorated in red and white. Crave Catering provided the food and cake, and Diamond MC Entertainment curated a wonderful playlist and kept guests entertained.

As a surprise to the guests, the wedding party had a bit of a nerdy theatrical performance…it was pretty awesome! What a grand march!

Guests had to play a game to get the couple to kiss…there were some really great moments!

Sean and Annie

Sean and Annie were married today!

In his speech to his new wife, Sean said how he knew immediately after meeting her that she was the one…but he didn’t want to be “that guy”, so he waited a little bit before telling her. It was pretty obvious from the get go how much these two love each other and how fiercely they are supported by their community of family and friends. The ceremony was held at the Nazareth Chapel, such a beautiful space. Bee the Buzz Event planned the day so it flowed easily and kept the all ready low-key couple from having to worry about anything.

The rapidly dropping temperatures did nothing to deter these two from getting outside for some portraits, which naturally made us super excited!

After pictures and a stop at a bar (this group knows how to party!) Sean and Annie sent the wedding party into the reception while they said vows to each other in Rice Park under the beautiful lights. It was incredibly romantic and so sweet.

The reception took place at 317 Rice Park, which is just perfect for winter weddings with its classic detailed architecture and warm ambiance. Bea from Bee the Buzz designed plaid table runners and napkin details to add a woodsy Minnesotan touch and Sweet Peas Floral created sweet wintery arrangements with white and greenery. In lieu of a wedding cake, delicious chocolate mousse was served, and as a guest book, they had guests sign a modern print of Minneapolis.

This group knows how to pose, let me tell you!

Nora Events got the party going, and was excellent at mixing songs decades apart to get all generations on the dance floor.

Annie’s son, Ethan, had a blast at the dance, and entertained the guests with his rockin’ dance moves.

Bob and Ally

Bob and Ally were married today! What a way to start off a new year!

A relaxed morning of getting ready, a tearful first sight, and hanging out with friends, a great start to the day.

We ventured out into the snow for some romantic pictures…totally worth braving the cold. Oak Marsh Golf Course has some nice backdrops for a snowy portrait.

These two are a hoot…

…their wedding party was pretty fun, too!

Ally and her dad had an emotional start to the ceremony, but soon were dancing down the aisle to the lively folk music playing.

It was a lovely ceremony. Full of meaningful music, happy tears, and love and support from friends and family.

At the reception, guests enjoyed delicious food, an ice cream wedding cake, lots of kissing, and speeches that had everyone in stitches.

After a tender first dance, the couple was ready to tear up the dance floor. Many shenanigans ensued, there was a lively limbo competition, and a magic disco ball made an appearance. Cousins and nieces and siblings and friends poured their heart into dancing and playing board games, and having a fabulous time! I think the younger gals just loved when Let It Go played and Ally twirled around in her white winter cape. What a night!

Beth and Chris

Beth and Chris were married today!

When we got a shot list that says “antics, assorted” and found out our couple was having a Minnesota themed wedding, we knew we were in for fun. When we got to the venue and saw a picture of Prince on the decor, we knew this wedding would be LEGIT. And man, it sure was!

Beth and Chris are fun. And they surround themselves with fun loving people. So what else could we expect but a limo full of people singing Journey at the top of their lungs, or a group photobomb during portraits, or a garter toss that ended in a dog pile. The day started with getting ready at the Millennium Hotel, with lots of happy tears and a sweet first sight.

We headed into the limo and out into Minneapolis for portraits. These two are amazing together. Their laughter was absolutely contagious.

Now THAT is a sexy wedding party!

The ceremony took place in the Historic Wesley Center. This church is stunning!

Sweet Peas Floral did a lovely job with this navy and hot pink color scheme!

After the ceremony, we snuck away with the bride and groom for a few more images.

Beth OWNS this town.

Though a die hard Packers fan, Chris is a Minnesota convert in every other way. He and Beth wanted to show off their state pride to all their out of town guests so Minnesota was featured proudly in the decor.

Their guest book was a giant jenga game!

Sweet and funny speeches plus a kissing game kept things lively during dinner. Which, by the way, made our top five list of wedding dinners. The Millennium certainly know what they’re doing in the kitchen!

DJ Diamond MC Entertainment had a packed dance floor and mixed all the guests favorites all night! Thriller to MMMM Bop to Roll Out the Barrel, this dance was such a hoot! We loved every moment watching this crowd dance!
