Rhett and his parents had their portrait session Saturday! Minnesota was definitely showing off today, with crisp weather, gorgeous light and bright trees full of color. We had a great time playing with the leaves and chasing Rhett around as he explored.

He came up with this pose all on his own.

Tonight, right before a most glorious sunset, I got to photograph some of my favorite clients in one of my favorite locations. As Finn gets older, less runaround is needed for his session, but we have definitely increased the amount of times we say “butt” or “poop”…ahhhh, five year olds. With goofy faces galore, and LOTS of hunting for bugs, we had a great time and I just love how the images turned out! Check out the favorites!
The end of the session included a reward of looking for tadpoles and exploring.

Another awesome family portrait session from this weekend! This time, our adventures bring you to Edina, in a gorgeously manicured park. I’ve worked with these two goofball brothers for a few years now and they are hilarious! (their parents are pretty rockin’, too). We walked all over the park, and I love the images created!

I had a wonderful family session tonight in Minneapolis. The last time I saw Sebastien he was a newborn, and he sure has grown since then! He is a bundle of energy with a million dollar smile and Mama and Papa were definitely put through the paces during the session to keep up with him.

So things have been so crazy here, I’m just getting to blogging a session a week late!
So what I loved about this session is how real it was. We have multiple generations getting their portrait taken, four kids to try and get to smile at the same time, aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents…it definitely kept me on my toes! When one of the moms said, “just smile, I’ll give you a dollar, I’ll give you ten dollars, I’ll give you a PONY, please smile!” It just summed up the family portrait experience perfectly. We had fun, let the kids play and got some great images of this awesome family.
We have our sessions last an hour because it gives us time to shoot documentary family portraits as well as posed ones. Showing kids in their real environment, with their real personalities and experiences is priceless. The outtakes are the ones they will remember into adulthood. Maybe the cousins will recreate this someday!
Someone slipped the kids their dollar for smiles…
