Last night was such a gorgeous night for a family portrait session! The littles are at that age of rambunctious energy meets needs to autonomy, so they made mom and dad work pretty hard to coax those smiles, but it was worth it!
EVERYONE was out on the Stone Arch Bridge, there was such energy. What a gorgeous night!

The Machine Shop has just opened their doors in Minneapolis. A raw industrial space turned into the hottest new venue in town. With huge windows everywhere, it is a photographer’s dream come true. And today, I was honored to be a part of a photo shoot with a fantastic group of vendors! We’ll just put this image here first, because it is the bomb…
A group of creatives collaborating on a styled shoot is so rewarding. It gives a space to create new ideas, go outside the box, and work with vendors you’ve always wanted to work with. We had an amazing group! The Machine Shop’s open space and awesome light was the muse for an industrial modern wedding full of personality. We wanted a look that was sophisticated and chic.
Water Lily Beauty styled our couple perfectly. Our groom wore a fashion forward tux from Heimie’s Haberdashery and the bride stunned in a flowy stone colored gown by Tara LaTour. The ceremony space on the second floor of the venue was designed by Sadie’s Couture Floral. They used the Machine Shop’s whitewashed cross back chairs, created an asymmetrical swoop for a focal point and then lined the aisle with tall decorative grasses. It was completely unique and naturally gorgeous. Relaxed yet refined at the same time.
Jill Elaine Designs letter pressed copper foil for the invitations and sourced a unique leather folio with copper brush strokes from ClaireMagnolia that ended up being a main design element to the shoot. I loved how she flawlessly combined elements into a cohesive design. Local artist Steph Guidera used the font from Jill’s invitations to make custom marble place cards as well as brush stroked table numbers on sheets of copper. Both ladies were instrumental in the design and execution of the shoot!
For our reception space, Rudy’s Event Rentals set up barn tables at angles to create a space that encourages interaction and a more dinner party vibe. Rudy’s tolix chairs perfectly fit the industrial look we were going for. Sadie’s Floral and Rudy’s combined their collections of copper decor and we combined their items with dishware, glasses and linens from Apres Party and Tent Rental and gorgeous copper flatware from Ultrapom. Sadie’s white peony centerpieces were the essence of elegance and their tall palm and greenery designs blew us all away! Avant Decor used white and copper draping to establish a clean backdrop for the stylish head table, and so the crane in the main space of the venue popped out of the background. Farina Baking Company brought in a lovely white cake with copper brush strokes that matched the invitation suite perfectly.
We chose copper, marble, and wood along with texture to create the base for our design. Fashion forward and clean and modern. Hints of personality and unexpected details everywhere. This shoot sure inspired me, I hope it can inspire other couples as well! Ok, on to the pictures!

When I asked Tom and Alex where they wanted their engagement session, they talked about St Anthony Main since they love everything Nord’east and it was where Tom proposed. It was a beautiful evening, the perfect end to a perfect autumn day in Minneapolis.
They also asked if they could bring their bulldog Louis, which I naturally got super excited about. And Louis stole the show! The entire time we were walking around we could overhear people talking about how amazing he was, Alex joked that it was like taking a walk with Justin Bieber.
Louis had even helped propose to Alex!
I asked Alex what words they would want used to describe their pictures, and she said, “It may be weird, but Wes Anderson? really symmetrical and quirky” and man did I do a happy dance! My favorite!!!
St Anthony Main is photographer haven for a reason…so many gorgeous places and textures to photograph.

Bryan and Meghan were married today!
This winter has been one of Minnesota’s most mild on record. As of two days ago, there was no snow on the ground and it was 50 degrees…we were out in short sleeves! All Meghan wanted was snow on her wedding day, and low and behold, beautiful white flakes started falling from the sky just as her ceremony began.
Bryan and Meghan had a true Nordeast wedding, which was fitting since they both grew up in the nearby neighborhoods. Their ceremony was at The Heights Theater, a beautiful art deco space that provided a unique venue. Meghan walked down the aisle to organ music and Grant, from Tie the Knot Wedding Ceremonies, officiated a sweet and meaningful ceremony. Not only did guests get to munch on popcorn, they got to sit and watch a short production of the couple’s lives.
As the snow really started falling, we headed to the St Anthony Main area for pictures. Star Limousine made sure we got there safely and in one piece as we traveled to a couple different locations. Just as we were taking our final pictures at the Stone Arch Bridge, the snow really started coming down in huge flakes and Meghan was able to get the pictures she was dreaming of. A short stop at Nyes to warm up, and then we were off to Jax Cafe for the reception.
I’ll just say off the bat that this family knows how to party. They also have good taste in DJs, and we were excited to get to work with one of our favorites, D’Angelo Sound and Light. Good food, good drink, good dancers, The Traveling Photo Booth…it was quite a party! We have a ton of hillarious and fun dance pictures, but decided to show a meaningful image of Meghan dancing with her mother and daughter. This was one of many tender moments that we loved being a part of.
