Another awesome family portrait session from this weekend! This time, our adventures bring you to Edina, in a gorgeously manicured park. I’ve worked with these two goofball brothers for a few years now and they are hilarious! (their parents are pretty rockin’, too). We walked all over the park, and I love the images created!

Today I had a great family session in Minneapolis. What I love about photographing kids is that they are unpredictable, dynamic, silly and 100% real. And these kids definitely fit the bill.
Capturing the in between moments that show relationships is the essence of the work I try to create. The smiles are important, but these moments are timeless.
The main goal was a picture of the grandkids with their grandparents, it was awesome having the parents dance and sing behind me to get these reactions!
This little guy was fearless!

When I asked Tom and Alex where they wanted their engagement session, they talked about St Anthony Main since they love everything Nord’east and it was where Tom proposed. It was a beautiful evening, the perfect end to a perfect autumn day in Minneapolis.
They also asked if they could bring their bulldog Louis, which I naturally got super excited about. And Louis stole the show! The entire time we were walking around we could overhear people talking about how amazing he was, Alex joked that it was like taking a walk with Justin Bieber.
Louis had even helped propose to Alex!
I asked Alex what words they would want used to describe their pictures, and she said, “It may be weird, but Wes Anderson? really symmetrical and quirky” and man did I do a happy dance! My favorite!!!
St Anthony Main is photographer haven for a reason…so many gorgeous places and textures to photograph.

These two are growing up so fast! We are in our fourth year of working together, and each year I so look forward to their big smiles and hilarious personalities! I just love how big brother Miles still isn’t too cool to hold his sister’s hand, and how Ellie looks up to him so much. I also very much enjoy the plethora of goofy words we have to say to get them to laugh, especially because their parents come up with the best ones. We had a perfect summer evening along the river to enjoy our session, here are my favorites!

Nick had his senior session today.
We used a building I have wanted to shoot at for a very long time, and the ivy was the perfect backdrop.
We used every side of this building and even the back lot, so we got a great variety of images.
