Romy and Rachel were married this weekend!

The highly anticipated New Orleans social event of the season was finally upon us. Rachel and Romy are so beloved in their community and they gathered their dearest people together to celebrate their love. The day began in the brides’ historic home as the crew sipped champagne and got glammed up.

Rachel and Romy describe their first meeting and the love that instantly began as electric. Their connection is palpable and full of joy. It is one of those storybook tales that you can’t help but become fully absorbed into. I loved catching the moments of humor and tenderness between the two of them.

The whole crew knew how to multitask like a boss!

The wedding venue was a beautiful historic home in the French Quarter. And while rain threatened the wedding day all week, the drizzle stayed away for just that afternoon.

The details of the day were carefully planned and full of meaning. A gorgeous roaring 20’s aesthetic wove together the visual elements.

The wedding party brought the GLAMOUR…

….they also brought hella fun.

The way these two look at each other…a love for the ages.

The ceremony took place as the sun set and the French Quarter began to come to life. Warm lights made the formal gardens glow as the sky darkened and the guests witnessed beautifully tender vows and a hand fasting ceremony.

And then came the second line! The brides changed into dancing shoes and the entire wedding partied in the streets! Let the festivities begin!

Romy and Rachel, what an HONOR to tell the story of your magical day. Love is love is love is love. And your love transcends.

D’Amico’s New Menu

I truly love photographing food. Some of my favorite images have come from collaborating with chefs and finding the right light to really make a dish look scrumptious. I love trying to find a story, a shape, a detail that will pull the viewer in and make them incredibly hungry. The foodie world is fast paced and edgy, which is how I love to work. So when D’Amico asked me to come photograph their new menu items, I jumped at the chance. This is the new generation of wedding meals, people…MAGNIFICENT. Here are a few of my favorites!

Ernest and Maria

Ernest and Maria were married today!

Maria’s dream of a Great Gatsby themed wedding burst forth today in a wash of glitter, smiles, and oh so much fun. The ceremony and reception took place at the lovely St Paul Athletic Club and everyone was dressed to the nines and ready to party.

Ernest and Maria are one of those couples, where you go “are they REALLY this awesome?” and then you get to the wedding and all their friends are just as awesome and you start to wonder how the heck all these amazing people exist in one place.

The wedding party knew how to vogue like no one’s business.

We really wanted to play up a bit of Gatsby drama, and I did such a happy dance when we created this image of Maria. Her Che Bella dress was stunning and fit her like a glove. She literally stopped traffic. This image will go down as one my all time favorites.

And THIS image, well, this is another that will go down in infamy.

The ceremony was also full of laughs, these guys are a hoot!

The Hotel 340 lobby is just perfect for a grand wedding and Ernest and Maria’s guests packed the space on both the first and second floors to watch the ceremony.

Back at the Athletic Club the party was ready to go and when Maria and Ernest appeared in the balcony to greet their guests the crowd went wild!

The guests were so eager to get the dance started, they were dancing at their tables and in the aisles, holding cake and champagne, laughing and greeting old friends. Cut Productions got the ball rolling with first dances and then mixed the rest of the night, with some crazy fraternity dances and even a serenade or two, the place was hopping!

And I’ll close the blog entry with this, because it is AMAZING…

Ryan and Courtney

Ryan and Courtney were married today!

I have to include so many pictures because SO much happened today! Courtney loves Fitzgerald and also loves to have a great time, so it made perfect sense that she chose a Great Gatsby themed wedding. And it made even more sense to have the wedding at the nearby White Bear Yacht Club where Fitzgerald wrote a century ago. The wedding details were simply gorgeous, a nod to the nautical history of the venue as well as bright pops of pink to modern things up. Crisp and clean and lovely went perfectly alongside glitzy glam party. The dancefloor was even turned into a speakeasy!

We hit the ground running the moment we arrived. The lovely Ashley Hanson was busy doing the hair of all the bridesmaids while a friend applied the makeup. The house was a whirl of activity and excitement and I think there is something so special about a bride getting ready in her childhood bedroom.

The guys get some serious work done on their hair…

…and the ladies show us all how to vamp like no one’s business. Courtney rocked her gown from The Wedding Shoppe and I LOVED the ladies’ dresses from Nordstroms!

This was such a fun group of friends full of dynamic personalities!

The ceremony site was just stunning! We took formal pictures and had some prep time before the wedding began. The day was hot but turned pleasant with the most gorgeous golden light right when the ceremony started. It was perfect.

After the ceremony we HAD to take advantage of the gorgeous light and lovely property and take some romantic images and well as group shots. We just had a blast. This couple wanted us to be creative and we took full advantage of that!

Then there were the groomsmen…

This is our first time shooting at the White Bear Yacht Club and I hope do work here again soon. It is simply lovely and the food was AMAZING! The guests had a great time enjoying cocktail hour outside by the pool.

Inside the venue, the reception was in full Gatsby glory! A typewriter for leaving advice, a speakeasy password to gain access to the dancefloor, a couple casino tables for the high rollers, all kinds of 1920s accessories for The Traveling Photo Booth, an art deco cake by Nadia Cakes, and music by Pop Luxe. We’ll just leave the rest of the storytelling to the images. Suffice it to say, the party was fun and full of vigor, a party Daisy Buchanan would absolutely approve of.
