Natasha and Jordan wanted a beautiful way to dedicate their love, and chose to have a hand fasting in a magical birch grove.
The couple came to hang out at the GatherHaus farm earlier in the year and immediately felt the pull of the land and surroundings. When they learned about handfasting, they wanted to perform this ceremony here and John and I were fortunate to be asked to cover the event. This couple is so full of admiration and love for each other, it was such an honor to watch them weave their lives together.
Handfasting is an ancient tradition and can include as many or as few participants as the couple would like. Each ribbon or strand has a meaning and the couples tie those knots around their hands. For this ceremony, family and friends came from thousands of miles away to participate in sealing this meaningful bond. With tears, both Natasha and Jordan expressed how much each person meant to them and how together they exist as a family. The couple promised respect and dedication in their relationship and to cherish each other. The warm autumn day, the breeze rippling through the wildflowers, the crunch of leaves under foot created the perfect background music to such a lovely event.
Jordan and Natasha, we feel so blessed to call you friends, to have you love our farm as much as we do, and to have told the story of your beautiful ceremony.
