I am so proud of Michelle, owner of Rudy’s Event Rentals. With a lot of hard work and determination, in just a year she has turned her idea to rent hand made farm tables into a thriving boutique shop and rental company. Last night was her open house, where she debuted her space to clients and vendor friends. What a lovely night! This place truly is a sight with its gold damask floors and custom wood wall! Girl Friday, A Day in Provence , and Positively Charmed worked with Michelle to create a lovely inviting space. Green Mill, D’Amico, and Ganache provided delish bites, and guests enjoyed some bubbly to the tunes of Haugenius.
Tim and Laura – Minneapolis Wedding
Tim and Laura were married today!
I’m so glad that Tim and Laura found each other. They are simply the perfect fit and were meant to be together. Both are quick to smile, thoughtful, positive and love adventure. And today exercised all their good attributes as we dodged the rain all over Minneapolis taking pictures. The blessing in disguise with the rain was that we had a blissfully cool day and beautiful light to work with.
Tim and Laura chose bright summery colors for their wedding, and the bouquets by Sadie’s Couture Floral matched the bridesmaids dresses perfectly.
Tim and Laura love to dance, so the day started off with a romantic dance in the rain with a gorgeous view.
This group of friends love to laugh. We had a great time with the portraits. At various times a rubber chicken and frisbee even made an appearance!
Since the city of Minneapolis plays such a supporting role in the couple’s lives, we made sure to use locations that captured the various aspects of the city. From a warehouse to a lush park, the river to the skyline, we made sure to include as much as we could in the images.
Oh, wait, a serious moment…
We whisked Tim and Laura away for a few moments alone with a gorgeous view of the skyline. I just love how these images turned out!
Back at the church, Laura prepared to walk down the isle. Calvary Baptist is such a lovely house of worship and the couple spent quite a bit of time putting together a meaningful ceremony.
Laura practically skipped down the aisle she was so excited!
With car horns honking, bubbles in the air, and friends and family cheering, the couple makes their grand exit.
The reception took place at the Metropolitan Ballroom, a simply gorgeous venue. The retro charm of the space worked perfectly with the little bits of vintage details Tim and Laura incorporated into the decor.
Tim has been salsa dancing for years and swept Laura into this world as well. Their choreographed first dance was a joy to watch. And after the dance, they gave their guests a salsa lesson! DJ Nico Suave played the perfect balance of music, including some great salsa. The guests had such a blast!
Tim and Laura, thank you so much for having us be a part of your day! We hope you enjoy your sneak peek!
Ryan and Liz
Ryan and Liz have a passion for architecture, clean design, and modern minimalist aesthetics. So I was over the moon when they not only hired us to capture their day, they gave us free creative reign, told us to go out of the box, hired some of our favorite vendors, AND chose two gorgeous venues for their wedding day. Seriously, dream come true!
Liz chose a luxurious textured Wedding Shoppe gown that had subtle pink undertones. Lots of sparkly details and of course purple shoes completed her ensemble. Arrangements designed by Violet’s Flowers emphasized the purple color scheme and Liz’s bouquet had these HUGE beautiful orchids in it…I had never seen them before. They were so lovely!
Le Meridien Chambers was chosen for the reception because of the gorgeous interior design and clean lines, and we gladly featured the hotel prominently in the images.
At the Bigelow Chapel, things were gearing up for the ceremony, and we once again took advantage of architectural perfection with our portraits. We placed the main focus on clean lines and dramatic posing.
I love this shot, it features Liz’s killer Badgley Mischka shoes, and also has Ryan in the background!
The ceremony included sweet touches, like a hand ceremony and stories about how the couple met and fell in love.
Ryan and Liz planned the ceremony time so things would be wrapping up as night fell, which gave us this most amazing sky color and the moon even cooperated!
Back at Chambers, the reception was set up with gray linens, amber up lighting, purple clustered centerpieces and beautiful paper designs by Dick and Jane Letterpress featuring the motif used in the hotel’s lobby.
D’Amico pulled out all the stops with their delicious food that looked as good as it tasted! Then Instant Request started the dance and guests mingled in the beautiful space and enjoyed watching the crazy Halloween costumes walking around below on Hennepin Ave.
Ryan and Liz, it was truly a pleasure getting to work with you! We hope you enjoy your sneak peek!
Cullen and Sarah
Cullen and Sarah were married today!
Though the skies were gray and misty, you couldn’t tell inside since there was so much excitement! After a very sweet first sight, which included a card exchange, Sarah and Cullen relaxed and enjoyed pictures with friends and family.
Sarah worked tirelessly on all of the details of the wedding and it was so neat to see everything come together. They chose a black and white color scheme with a damask pattern that was used by Red Organic in their invitation suite. I Do Flowers created a bold accent with deep burgundy designs. Bethlehem Lutheran Church was a lovely ceremony site with soaring ceilings and a beautiful, candlelit ambiance.
After the ceremony, and a bubble filled exit (seriously, there must have been some professional bubble blowers in the crowd, we were impressed!) the wedding party piled into their nightclub on wheels and we cruised the town. I think Cully picked out the Total Luxury Limousine because that thing was tricked out, and the group had a great time partying. The rain/mist was kind enough to stop altogether for some pictures downtown that featured the urban feel Sarah and Cullen love.
The groomsmen really wanted this one on the blog =)
The ladies weren’t without goofiness, too ; )
This was seriously SUCH a fabulous group of people…we had a great time!
After some more limo time (because we are awesome photographers and made sure we got done early so the party could continue!) we pulled up to International Market Square for the reception. The raw industrial feel of the building was perfectly accentuated with low strung cafe lights by Avant Decor, which made the reception feel like an outdoor cafe. Guests mingled and glasses clinked, there was lots of kissing and sweet speeches.
A visual aid for one of the speeches…
Instant Request started the music, and Sarah and Cullen were lost in each other’s eyes for that first dance…it was lovely.
Then it was time to party!
Sarah and Cullen, thank you so much for having us be a part of your day! Enjoy your sneak peek!
Chris and Kelly
Chris and Kelly were married today!
When Kelly said yes to Chris, she was blessed to not only start a new life with a fabulous man, but with his three kids as well. They were excited while planning the wedding to join as a family, but got a surprise they didn’t expect…a new little one! When Kelly and Chris found out they were pregnant, they decided to scale back the wedding and have things be more intimate. Kelly, however, did not scale back on her dress, having her gloriously textured Enzoani gown from Bridal Accents Couture altered to fit her baby bump.
By choosing Calhoun Beach Club for their ceremony and reception, Kelly and Chris embraced an elegant, modern wedding. Kelly took this even further by designing the entire wedding around a black and white damask pattern. The bridesmaids wore lovely Jim Hjelm gowns from Rush’s Bridal and the guys looked spiffy in their suits. The one punch of color, deep red, was left in the capable hands of Violet’s Flowers. Jean created gorgeous bouquets that brought Kelly to tears. I loved how she used anemone, tulips, and ranunculus…the combination was stunning. When photographing against the gray walls of the Beach Club, the red really popped!
Reverend Tomkin Coleman officiated the ceremony in the Boulevard Room. He did a great job tying in the story of how they met with the journey they will now take together as a family. I can’t decide on the highlight of the ceremony, the five-way lighting of the unity candle, or Kelly’s dad reading an Irish Blessing…both made me mist up. This is truly a family that enjoys each other and cherishes their time together. And this feeling was emphasised even more at the reception dinner.
The entire guest list sat at one family style dining table, with arrangements of red blooms down the middle. Each place setting had a small jar of honey that was harvested by Kelly’s sister. D’Amico brought their A game with the food, amazing appetizers, endless wine pours, and beautiful entrees. Kelly was very excited for her red velvet wedding cake as well, and by the end of the night, I think everyone was ready for sweatpants and sleep.
Chris and Kelly, thank you so much for having me photograph your wedding. I had a wonderful time getting to know your friends and family and can’t wait to meet your little girl in a few months! Here are my favorite images, enjoy!
