Lucien and Lisa were married today!
Wow, this wedding was just…wow. Fantastic. Creative. Lovely. Fun. I could go on and on. Lucien and Lisa had the perfect day. They put a lot of time and effort in to planning and cared about every detail. And then they did what most can’t. They trusted their vendors and let go. They were so laid back today and took the time to savor every moment and enjoy each other and their friends. This is how you throw a wedding!
The entire day took place at The Depot in Minneapolis. Lucien and Lisa thought of every little detail, and after all that planning the crisp February day arrived.
Lisa and Lucien first donned traditional Eastern garments for the tea ceremony. After some formal portraits, family and friends gathered to watch the bride and groom present both grandparents and parents with a cup of tea and ask permission to marry. I didn’t expect such a formal ceremony to be so emotional, but I was tearing up! After the ceremony was finished, Lisa and Lucien changed into their formal wedding clothes and had their second first sight of the day. Lisa’s La Sposa gown from Brides of France was the perfect mix of modern, sweet, and vintage and she polished off the look with killer shoes and a show stopping necklace.
The wedding took place in the Winter Garden which has a great mix of old architecture and brick, steel and glass. Lucien and Lisa chose bright colors and a fun, mod vibe which went very well with the space. Judge Abrams officiated the ceremony and did an excellent job, and the string trio’s music was gorgeous. Lucien’s smile went from ear to ear when he put the ring on Lisa and the guests enjoyed Lisa’s enthusiastic “I DO!”
After the ceremony, guests were led into the Great Hall for the reception. Until now I haven’t mentioned the flowers, because I feel they deserve their own paragraph. Karolee of Zinnia Design Florals truly knocked all our socks off. She created such a beautiful variety of floral pieces for both ceremonies and reception. She worked with Lisa’s love of moss, Lucien’s love of modern and simple design, and the variety of colors used throughout the day. The results were stunning. Layers of interesting textures, shapes and little details that kept you searching the arrangements for more. She took the asian floral aesthetic and combined it with a more lush look and still kept everything cohesive. I think I might have to dedicate another blog post just for the flowers =)
Since wowing everyone with their lovely reception hall wasn’t enough, Lisa and Lucien had another trick up their sleeves. They were introduced in their grand march by a tradtional Lion Dance, performed by Ha Family Entertainment. Loud drums and cymbals played as two lions danced, played, jumped and even ate! Guests were on their feet cheering and truly enjoyed the experience.
Then there was the food. Sheesh, I need a whole new blog post for that, too! There were two food stations, one eastern, one western. The mashed potato bar rocked and the sushi was out of this world. And then the desserts! Pies and cream puffs and cheesecake and more. All baked fresh at The Depot.
To top the night off came the dance. Lance, my favorite DJ at Instant Request , did a great job mixing songs and keeping guests entertained. What a night of dancing, laughing, and being with family. There was a lot of love in that room, and we were honored to be a part of it.
Lucien and Lisa, here are our favorites from the wedding day! Enjoy!
