Chicago Family Portraits

Whenever we travel to Chicago, we always have to visit our friends, the Paschkes. Since Martha loves photography (we were in a college photography class together), we always make sure to have even five minutes for family pictures. This time, Martha joined me at the engagement session in downtown Chicago while the dads had all six kids at the zoo. Then we all went to a specific spot at the Morton Arboretum for family pictures. Even Martha’s daughter has gotten into photography, so it was fun to climb trees and take pictures of each other.

With the leaves being gloriously yellow, the fact that we all wore purple really made the outfits pop. Though six kids and four tired adults makes it tough to organize pictures, we managed to get quite a few good ones! Here are my favorites, enjoy!

Cosmopolitan Engagement Session – Part 2

In August, I posted part one of an engagement session with George and Amy. Since their courtship was primarily long distance, we came up with a neat idea to represent that. The image in the previous blog post below this one was the inspiration for our dual city engagement session.

We decided St Paul (where the couple now resides) would be more casual and the Chicago shoot would be fancier and we’d emphasise the skyscrapers since George used to work in one. In fact, we learned a lot about George in this session, 1) he had way too many stories that started with “my buddies and I skipped work” and 2) the guy can hail a cab like no one’s business ; ) Probably the biggest contrast in the shoots was that in St Paul, George was sweating like crazy and in Chicago, Amy was freezing…so it balanced out nicely.

I’ve also decided I want to do way more destination engagement sessions, it is so fun to have new locations to work with, especially ones that are as gorgeous as Chitown. Here are the images, let me know what you think!
