Pat and Rose were married today!
When I photographed their Milwaukee engagement session, we talked about how we hoped there would be snow for their wedding. Well, Minnesota sure delivered! 6″ of fresh snow and subzero temperatures definitely checked the box for “winter wedding”. This group of hearty folk took it all in stride and the day was full of warmth and cheer.
The ceremony took place at Church of the Assumption in St Paul. Rose was stunning in her gown from The Wedding Shoppe, and the bridesmaids wore sparkly gold dresses from Rent the Runway. The day flowed smoothly thanks to Ashley Skeie Wedding and Event Planning, it was obvious this wedding was designed by people who love to host and enjoy life.
After the ceremony came the true test of strength, braving the cold to get the skyline pictures the couple wanted badly, and coaxing the wedding party to join them.
Once in Minneapolis we ventured onto the Stone Arch Bridge. The good news is we had it all to ourselves. The bad news is it was so cold, five minutes was about all the skin could take…but these guys were troopers! Plenty of swear words were uttered, but they looked awesome!
We headed to Whiteys, where the couple first met, to warm up with a shot of whiskey. This may be one of my favorite images ever.
The next photo stop was thankfully warm and had some stunning light to work with. John wins the day with this image, just gorgeous.
And after taking those lovely images, the wedding party kept us in stitches with their antics.
One more quick ride brought us to the reception venue, Harriet Island Pavilion. Inside there was a fire crackling, and guests enjoyed delicious comfort food like mini shepherds pie from Common Roots Catering. These two foodies made sure their guests were warm, full of great food, and never had an empty glass. Pat and Rose were cheered and celebrated, their families and friends were hilarious, rowdy, tender and loving. After dinner and cake, Transmission Music packed the dance floor, it was hard to photograph all the craziness going on!
A quick sneak away was totally worth it, even in -20 degrees to get this last image.
Pat and Rose, thank you so much for choosing us to tell the story of your day! We have enjoyed every minute. Enjoy your sneak peek!!!
