Afsana Archives – Studio Laguna Photography

This weekend I headed up to Duluth with the Afsana dance troupe. These awesome ladies specialize in fusing many types of world dance, such as Tribal Fusion, SteamPunk, Asian, Gothic, Latin, African, Modern, Hip Hop and Bellydance. They each have a fabulously unique personality and as a team, they have a tight bond that was a joy to witness. I had photographed their performance before, and this time we were looking to update some headshots as well as photograph some creative concepts and get awesome group images. We took over Duluth, finding unique places for portraits and even teaching a groomsman a few bellydance moves. We laughed the entire time, got stared at A LOT, and had some quality bonding time. We’ll meet again soon to get one more shoot in, and I can’t wait! What a fantastic weekend!

Afsana is a local dance troupe based in St Paul Minnesota. They perform at a variety of shows, including the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. They host a yearly show called RaqsAfsana that showcases local and national talent. I loved playing with the motion of flowing fabrics and capturing the dancers’ elegant hands and gorgeous costumes. This was such a joy to photograph…enjoy the pictures!
