Josh and Amy were married yesterday =)
This weekend, I had a wonderful new experience. I traveled to Napoleon, Ohio, to photograph a wedding. A sweet, country Church wedding officiated by the bride’s father. A wedding full of daisies and a John Deere tractor. That’s right, I said tractor. When I found out Josh works for the company and that the decor would include his favorite brand, I asked if we could have a tractor at the church for pictures. Without hesitation, he asked, “how big?”. So the morning of Amy’s wedding, she found herself posing with a tractor in her beautiful white dress, and that was just fine by her =)
The blue and brown theme was fresh and light, and when the daisies were added, the wedding had such a laid back and fun vibe. Which absolutely describes Josh and Amy. Their wedding party was full of family and friends and the cutest ring bearers that giggled down the aisle and flower girls that threw their petals with vigor. And I just loved the couple’s kiss, Josh couldn’t wait!
After the ceremony, we headed to a nearby barn (the group didn’t get my obsession with weathered barns, but they indulged me!) for literally five minutes of pictures. The wind was so strong and it was pretty chilly, but we got the pictures done! We then headed to the reception hall in Napoleon.
This entire wedding was a family affair. The rehearsal dinner took place at the firestation where Josh’s brother is a volunteer. Josh’s whole family made quite a spread and everyone enjoyed having a night of reunion and watching the kids play in the firetrucks. Family came early and decorated the hall with daisy clusters in mason jars, mini John Deere tractors and grapevine. Amy’s dad was the officiant, and her aunt the organist. Amy’s mom and some friends from church made the ring bearers’ pillows, flower girls’ buckets, pew bows and many other items. Her sister did her hair and makeup and everyone pitched in to help out. Amy even made her own wedding cake! Family came from all across the country and filled up the hotel in town, which made for some fun late night parties.
At the reception, guests enjoyed a delicious meal by Bavarian Catering, complete with the staple of Mountain Dew to drink. They were after my own heart ; ) Amy’s mom put together a candy buffet which was the hit for kids and adults alike. We heard sweet speeches from a couple of the siblings and the couple cut their cake with Adam Sandler’s “I want to grow old with you” playing in the background. After the first dances, Kingsize Entertainment played a large variety of music, including every song that mentions tractors. In fact, the whole family marched out at one point decked out in John Deere outfits and danced around the couple.
The best part was watching Josh and Amy, they are so full of life and love for each other. They just lit up being around their friends and family…and I hope that light lasts…they have two more receptions to attend on the west coast!
Josh and Amy, here are my favorites, enjoy!
