We were in Chicago to get the shot we needed to create this image =) The rest of the Chicago engagement session will be up tomorrow!
Fall Fun
Today I photographed a wonderful family. I first met little Finn when he was less than an hour old for his newborn portraits, and now he is a year! It is amazing to see him all grown up and I like how he has dad’s eyes and mom’s smile. Though it was pretty chilly and quite windy, we were able to reign the kids in for some pictures, and Danny provided plenty of comic relief. I love how the photographs turned out! Here are my favorites, enjoy!
American Family
I love photographing this family.
1 – the kids have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen
2 – they really like to be together
3 – they encourage creativity and fun in their family
4 – they let their kids be kids during portrait sessions
5 – Dani and Paul are still very much in love
After doing a few family portraits, we did a fun “real family portrait” that shows everyone at their current state of personality ; ) Then after that, the kids put on fun hats and played some sort of umbrella woods ninja reenactment…and they did it well.
Not only has this family survived having three children in six years, they also survived the Minneapolis tornado this year…they were literally in the middle of it! Throughout all of life’s ups and downs, Dani and Paul have always managed to look on the bright side and are two of the most giving warm people I know. Dani is a motivational speaker, head of a charity for Haiti, and avid blogger, you should check out her website! http://danitietjen.com//blog
Here are my favorite images, enjoy!
Minnesota Twins Engagement Shoot
When I asked Heidi and David what they would like their engagement session to look like, it didn’t take much time for them to decide on wearing their Twins gear at Target Field. Since they are dedicated season ticket holders and are at games so often they even have a favorite root beer vendor, I figured this was a good way to reflect who they were as a couple.
Though we got a few stares for walking around in twins garb post-season, it was fun to shoot in Twins Plaza. David and Heidi are so easy going and happy to be together, they were a cinch to photograph. After the sun went down, they changed outfits and we did some fun night shots as well. It was quite chilly, but the images look so cool! Here are my favorites =)
Leaves and Sun Flare
Roee Dori is an exceptional photographer that moved to Minnesota from NYC last year. I met him in the Independent Wedding Association and since we both have young families, we thought it would be fun to do a joint photo session. Though it was extremely windy and we were dealing with four kids under 6, it went pretty well! Roee’s wife and daughter are gorgeous, and they were a very easy family to photograph. Here are my favorites =)
Blustery Energy
This morning I met up with a family that just added a fourth little one into their brood. Unfortunately the day was super windy…fortunately, this family was super cool and wanted pictures that showed their family in action. In between gusts of wind, we were able to get some really great shots of the family and include their beloved city of St Paul in the images as well.
I was just really bummed the kids had zero personality…it was hard to photograph them as they were so calm and stoic ; )
Manny’s Leadership Conference
Over the years, Manny’s Steakhouse has been visited by very influential people. Being a very manly place to eat, it attracts manly guys that want a STEAK. Not a steak, but a STEAK. I love eating at Manny’s, not just for the great food, but the fabulous servers, they make your meal even more memorable.
This afternoon, Manny’s took their legendary service and manly qualities to a whole new level. Manny’s Leadership Conference welcomed successful men from across the board to enjoy expensive wine, shots of whiskey, cigars, manly comradery, and lots of good food. Gluttony was encouraged. Manly shouts and funny toasts were applauded. Testosterone was celebrated. I was one of the only girls around and felt like I was part of a nature documentary recording the habits of a species in its natural habitat ; ) It was a ton of fun!
Groom’s Night with the Independent Wedding Association
The Independent Wedding Association is known to embrace creativity and do things outside the box. Take, for example, our new inspiration magazine titled Hearten. Jello molds and Minnesota shaped pie on a stick are just a few of the unexpected beauties in this magazine!
Another example happened tonight at Pinstripes in Edina. The IWA presented Groom’s Night, a wedding fair with a manly twist. It is about time grooms get their time in the spotlight and we wanted to celebrate all the things about a wedding that are manly! Cigars, whiskey, bowling, pizza, The Traveling Photo Booth, Superman, manscaping, etc. It was all here. Brides, of course, were welcome as well, and we saw many couples equally chatting up vendors and attending the mini educational sessions.
Though all the vendors exhibited lovely work, the booth that really stood out was Cocoa and Fig. They designed an indoor s’more station that was TO DIE FOR! House made graham crackers and decadent chocolate squares were set out for guests to assemble after toasting their gourmet marshmallow to perfection. It was a fantastic idea and I would love to see this food station at weddings this upcoming year (especially any weddings where we are the photographers so we can eat the treats!).
Overall, the show was a big hit, and a huge round of applause goes to Becca Dilley who founded the association, enthusiastically keeps it up and tirelessly keeps planning new and cool events like this! Please visit the IWA website to see a list of vendors. We are member run and funded and are very proud of what we are bringing to the Twin Cities wedding community!
Here are some images of the fair! Images are showing the booths of Munster Rose, Posh | Rebel, Festivities!, Sassafras, Redshoes26 Design, a list of the mini sessions, Cocoa and Fig, and the entire group. Enjoy!
All Smiles
I first photographed Addison when she was a teeny newborn and now she is a big, happy, smiling, one year old!
She sure could cruise around and loved to play in the leaves. We had a gorgeous overcast fall day and a happy baby…so the session was done in record time! My favorite image is when I had Addison’s parents kiss and she responded with enthusiastic clapping =)
Here are my favorites, enjoy!
Playing in the Leaves
I have been VERY excited to post this session.
Gorgeous fall leaves, giant dogs, a cute baby and an oriental rug? Yes please!
I don’t even think I have to write much. Just let these images show how with a little bit of planning, you can create a “set” and have spectacular images!!!! We went for a more formal Ralph Lauren styled shoot, and Jaclyn did a great job styling. Here are my favorites =)
