Last night was the Star Awards. This is a yearly event that many look forward to…a night where the wedding and event industry gets to let it’s hair down. This year, since the theme was Glam Rock, there was a ton of hair! I loved seeing these straight laced business people dressed in rocker sunglasses, feathered hair and leather. LOTS of leather ; ) And you should have SEEN Jessica Bartl, of Jessica’s Cakes! She was my date and I was one lucky lady. Brett Dorrian worked her magic and glammed Jessica up to a point where even her closest friends did a double take.
This year, pop rocks were a big part of the theme, so they were in all the drinks, and pink bubbly decorations were everywhere along with liquid silver. The vendors went all out to make the Roy Wilkins Auditorium all about glitz and glamour. The afterparty room included a couch and wall you could graffitti, live reptiles, and even fake piles of “recreational drugs” so you could pretend to be Charlie Sheen for the night. Pazzaluna, The St Paul Hotel and Tria kept us fed with fantastic food, and though all the nominees were nervous, it was a great time.
Studio Laguna was nominated for the second time in the Best Event Photography category. Amy Coppersmith took the prize, and luckily it was the first category so I wasn’t nervous for too long =)
After the awards came the dancing. The band was awesome. Blending song after song, utilizing many costume changes and switching lead vocals constantly made the group very dynamic. They managed to hit all the standards from the Grease Medly to Put a Ring on It. Here are a few pictures, enjoy!
